“... Rarely have we stood back and celebrated our soils as something beautiful, and perhaps even mysterious.”

Les Molloy

OUR GOALS FOR THE PROJECT

Scientists, Artists and Aboriginal cultural advisors are working collaboratively to deliver a nationally significant project that will:

  • Establish a Soil Lab at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens (RTBG) to support a program of conversations, workshops, presentations and creative responses around soil.

  • Lead to a series of commissioned experimental artworks at the RTBG in 2022.

  • Commence the creation of a long-term site-specific artwork sited at the RTBG.

  • Aspire to establish internships for young members of the Aboriginal community at the RTBG.

  • Create an exemplar template for similar projects to be presented at Botanical Gardens and significant sites across Australia.
